We had heard that Newtown was a ‘cool’ neighbourhood, and as we didn’t have to go look around a load of houses, we thought we would check it out.
The first and best thing about Newtown is loads of great, cheap Thai restaurants. Lunch was the first order of the day – $6.50 for delicious Thai – yes!
If you had to compare it to a Pommie London neighbourhood, I guess Camden is probably the closest. It’s a little grungy and has loads of retro type junk shops. There’s quite a long street of shops to look at, which is relatively unusual in Sydney suburbs so it’s a good place to wander around. All in all thumbs up for Newtown.
There is also a mural of Martin Luther King which is quite famous. In fact it is famous for murals in general.
